Professional publication opportunity
My name is Angelia Sparrow. I've been a member here for some years and written a few multiverse stories.
These days, I run Inkstained Succubus Press.
We've got an anthology call out right now that begs for talented writers to get published and get paid. Filed off
is a collection of fanfiction turned into original fiction. Any fandom, any pairing, any heat level.
If your story is between 5000 and 10000 words, and you'd like to give this a try, check out the submission guidelines at http://www.inkstainedsuccubus.com
All anthologies pay royalties on a quarterly schedule.
(We have a number of anthologies open right now, and are always reading stand alone work)
Thank you for your time, and my apologies if you see this more than once.

Multiverse 2011: Open For Business
Prompt submissions are now closed for Multiverse 2011
. You may now proceed straight to claiming prompts and posting fills. There are one hundred and eighty prompts available, including the forty-two I threw in at the end. (It seemed like a good number.) Some of those prompts are mine, some are prompts from last year that I copied over, and some were invented by me and my friends over hamburgers while we were all exhausted to the point of hysteria. Have fun trying to distinguish those from the usual level of multiverse wackiness!
The rules are simple:
1) For each prompt your claim, you must submit a story on or before September 30th 2011. There is no minimum or maximum length limit, so responding with a haiku or a novel is allowable.
2) While you may claim any number of prompts during the ficathon, the management would like to gently suggest that you finish one story before going back for another, in order to give everyone a fair chance to claim.
3) If your prompt is filled, please send feedback.

Prompt Submissions Open For Multiverse 2011
Welcome to another round of Multiverse, the multifandom space show crossover challenge. This year, the challenge will be running with the aid of the brand new prompt challenge code over at the Archive of our Own
. (Yes, I know. Two new venues in two years! I think having the challenge over at the AO3 is a great opportunity, though.)
Prompt submission for the current round is open until the end of July. Please keep in mind that we're using the alpha version of the code, and you may see bugs that need to be reported to the archive.Q. How do I submit prompts?
You need to have an AO3 account in order to submit or claim prompts, or to post a story. If you need help getting one, just let me know. When logged into your account, you can fill in the submission form on the challenge page
.Q. How long do I have to submit prompts?
Until July 31st.Q. How many prompts may I submit?
Up to ten.Q. Do I have to commit to writing a story in order to submit a prompt?
Not at all! You may submit prompts without writing anything. (Or claim prompts without submitting them, for that matter.)Q. What kinds of prompts can I submit?
Each prompt must involve two or more fandoms from the pre-approved list of space shows. (Some of which are actually space books, space movies, space comics, etc.) You may add characters and other details if you like, but this is not compulsory.Q. I want to request a fandom that isn't on the list!
If your fandom involves space travel and/or aliens, I will be happy to add it to the challenge for you. Just drop me a line here or at the archive and I'll get right on it.Q. How do I claim a prompt?
You can see the list of prompts and claim one (or more!) by browsing the prompts on the collection. Feel free to claim your own prompts if you like.Q. When are stories due?
For each prompt your claim, you must submit a story on or before September 30th 2011.Q. Is there a length limit?
There is no minimum or maximum length limit, so responding with a haiku or a novel is allowable.Q. How many prompts can I claim?
While you may claim any number of prompts during the ficathon, the management would like to gently suggest that you finish one story before going back for another, in order to give everyone a fair chance to claim.
Have fun, and if your prompt is filled, please be polite and send feedback!

Multiverse on Archive Of Our Own
Now that people have had time to claim some prompts for the upcoming Multiverse round, there are a few other things I wanted to do. First of all, I've created a collection
of Multiverse stories on Archive of Our Own. People have already been tagging with Community: multiverse5000, but I wanted to make it even easier to find as many Multiverse stories there as possible.
If you've already uploaded your fic, you just need to edit them and add 'Multiverse' where it says 'Post to Collections/Challenges'. At the moment I'm keeping it simple so everything from 2004 to the present should go in the same collection.
If someone with more graphical ability than myself would like to make a custom banner, that would be awesome.

Multiverse 2010 Prompt Submissions Now Open
Yes, space beings of all persuasions, it is that time of the year again. However, this year we are doing things slightly differently: Multivese is moving to Dreamwidth.
I am moving the ficathon for two reasons. Firstly, I am increasingly unhappy with livejournal's level of fail and uncomfortable providing them content given the way that they treat their user base. Secondly, I have been on Dreamwidth for a year now and have found their service reliable and excellent.'
I checked and found that out of the people who posted to Multiverse last year, about two thirds already have
a dreamwidth journal, and that was just the ones I could find under the same name at both sites. You do not
need to be on dreamwidth to submit prompts, so it's only going to be a problem for those who want to post things and don't have a journal there already - if you fit into that category, just let me know and I'll get your a dreamwidth invite code.
Prompt submissions for Multiverse are open here
. I'm slightly late opening this year because I've had a busy couple of weeks and completely forgot that I meant to do this in April - posting will start June 15th this year, and when it finishes will depend on how many prompts we get.
I will crosspost any major admin announcements to this community for the time being, but I suggest you join/bookmark the dw comm if you want to keep up-to-date with Multiverse from now on.

Post-Serenity. For the X-folks, takes place after Alex's aborted wedding, when Cable was holed up drunk in a safehouse after demoralizing circumstances, and some time during New X-Men. I say this for general orientation, but any backstory is explained in the fic, so is not important for reading comprehension.A Harvest of Wild Oats

It has come to my attention that several Multiverse participants have written to me requesting an extension or explaining why they cannot hand in their stories. Unfortunately, I seem to have serious issues with my e-mail at the moment. (Bewildering issues, at that: I'm still getting comments from both my livejournal and dreamwidth journal, as well as e-mails from various mailing lists and family members. Nor is there any Multiverse-related correspondence lodged in my spam filter.)
If you have written to me regarding your Multiverse story and not received a reply, could you please comment here instead for the moment? I'll try to either fix the problem with my e-mail and/or arrange an alternate. Apologies for not catching the problem sooner; unfortunately I have not been well the last few weeks.

FIC: A Heart That Beats in Time With Yours (Firefly/SGA)
A Heart That Beats in Time With Yours
SUMMARY: She was fine. Really. (Kaylee in Atlantis; sequel to The Monster in the Closet
NOTES: For Multiverse 2009. Posted without the benefit of beta-reading, so all errors are mine. This is a sequel to the story I wrote for Multiverse 2006 in which Kaylee and Rodney were imprisoned together by Reavers - that story dealt with potentially triggery content, and this one deals with the aftermath, so be forewarned. You probably don't have to read that one first, but this might make more sense if you do. This story is set after Serenity
/after SGA 2.20, so at this point there's no Keller, and Kaylee's presence on Atlantis isn't meant as a commentary on that score.
+++( Kaylee woke slowly, the world a haze of unfamiliar voices and undefined sensation.Collapse )

Fic - Maintenance Request (BSG/Cyteen)
Maintenance RequestAuthor: slybrarianFandoms:
Battlestar Galactica / CyteenRating:
-- "The Fleet jumps, and finds itself over Cyteen." for skieswideopenNotes:
I had a horrible case of writer's block while working on this prompt, not to mention a lot of other projects. I had a lot of ideas, but I just couldn't write any of them down in a way that satisfied me. Hopefully at some point I'll manage to do this prompt more justice with the politics and ethical discussions that it deserves.
Summary: In which Grant converses with centurions.(By your command.)
